Understanding Wire Transfer Processing Times and Delays

Wire transfers to your Mural account are processed same-day (T+0) for USD transfers, meaning funds should arrive within the same business day they are sent. However, processing times can vary depending on several factors.

Expected Processing Times

USD wire transfers are processed the same business day, with the following timeline:

  • Cut-off time: 4:00 PM ET for same-day processing

  • Banking hours: Fedwire closes at 6:00 PM ET

  • Processing window: Funds can take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours to appear

Common Reasons for Delays

Wire transfers may experience delays due to:

  • Bank processing times: Clearing between banks can take several hours, even after funds leave your account

  • Review process: Some transactions may be placed under review as part of standard monitoring procedures

  • Network issues: Occasional delays in banking networks or payment rails

  • Incorrect account details: Using outdated virtual account information

What to Do If Your Wire Is Delayed

If your wire transfer hasn't appeared in your Mural account:

  1. Check the timing: Ensure your wire was sent before the 4:00 PM ET cut-off for same-day processing

  2. Verify account details: Confirm you're using the current virtual account information from your dashboard

  3. Wait for the processing window: Wires can take up to several hours to clear through the banking network

  4. Contact support: If funds don't arrive by 6:00 PM ET on the same business day, reach out with your transfer receipt

Important Account Information

Make sure you're using the most current virtual account details from your Mural dashboard. Outdated account information can cause significant delays or rejected transfers.

Always check the "Account Details" tab in your dashboard for the latest USD and EUR virtual account numbers before initiating any wire transfers.

Fund Security

Your funds remain completely secure throughout the transfer process. Even during delays, your money is safely in transit within the banking network until it posts to your Mural account. There is no risk to your funds at any point during processing.
